ThinkBizz

A BLOG to Talk Business
WELCOME,

In St Xavier’s College, Commerce is a rather new and small department. Every other department has its own fest, society and clubs, so some students in consultation with the Head of the Department, Dr Suvaiba Pirani, decided to initiate the formation of a Commerce Society after examining its due relevance and importance.

The society, named as Commercium aims at developing the student’s interest to the real world applicability of the subject, take student initiatives with regard to its activities, undertake student lead research, have organized events and visits to different businesses/institutions/organizations to bring young minds face to face with the real world, and get guest speakers to speak about their real life experiences with relation to the subject and the applicability of it in the outside world. The mission of the society is to boost the confidence of learners and mould their personality to become useful Commerce professionals through participation in seminars workshops, competitions, projects, visits, excursions and other related activities.

The goals of the society are to develop overall personality of learners, to conduct competitions in various areas of Commerce to develop competitive spirit among the learners(even from Non-Commerce backgrounds), to motivate learners to participate in various activities and programmes, to develop the communication skills of learners, to arrange picnics and visits to various places, to develop team spirit and qualities of co-operation and co-ordination among learners, to organize seminars and workshops, to equip the learners with knowledge and skills required in competitive environment, to provide knowledge in different areas of Commerce, to generate professionals with practical exposure and useful to the nation at large and to assist learners in pursuing higher and professional studies. In totality, it aims at giving students a thoughtful outlook on the outside world.

Thinkbizz, the official blog of Commercium, and the first initiative by the commerce society, seeks to demystify and distil commerce and business -making it accessible to everyone. It provides a platform to allow students on a weekly basis to analyse the happenings of the commercial world, make observations, give recommendations and to stir up the interest among non-Commerce students by helping them be a crucial part of it. In this blog, we wish to explore the Commerce and Business aspect of every subject and come up with new, exciting articles that would appeal to the crowd. It is a well-rounded blog making students as passionate as they are in reading other famous blogs in college. We wish to have it well-sequenced and well-developed with attractive content, with an interactive feel to it so as to enable people to voice their opinions post reading the article. This year we have modified the blog and unlike last year we have three main sections, the articles, the newsletters and the Two Cents for the Stockpickers. Each of the new sections is carefully designed to provide an all round view and understanding of the weekly business news and stock market updates, to fuel your interest in trading and helping you being updated with current affairs. Lastly, as the name suggests, ThinkBizz has been formed with a view of being intellectually stimulating and making people think beyond their horizon. The efforts of our writers will showcase in the blog, and we will ensure the blog is presented with the opportunity to broaden horizons. Thinkbizz thus aims at stimulating discussions and enhancing the learning experiences for young minds, about to step out into the real world.

ThinkBizz was formed last year with the joint efforts and ideas of Vedant Shukla, Ananya Acharya and Veer Shah. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Dr Suvaiba Pirani, for her invaluable feedback and constant guidance throughout and Mr Sanjiv Jhaveri, for sharing valuable insights and his vast knowledge assisting us in making the blog wholesome. Lastly I would like to thank the designer of this blog, Ameya Sanzgiri(Creative Head, Commercium).

I hope this blog will spur scholarly and enthralling conversation on Commerce and it’s varied avenues and kindle ideas, discussions and opinions. I, thereby, present to you, Thinkbizz, 2019-20. We hope you enjoy reading it!
